Thankfulness

So as I’m sure you’re all very well aware of, Thanksgiving is two days away. Yeah, crazy, huh?! A lot of lady-bloggers have been doing a series of posts or a post on what they’re most thankful for in their lives, because that’s what Thanksgiving is all about, right? I’ve decided to do the same thing, BUT it should have an interesting twist to it; for my year, quite frankly, has been rather sh*tty. At the same time though, I have had an amazing year that has been full of a crazy amount of growth. I think back to this time last year, and I honestly don’t recognize myself. I hear that’s what happens in your early 20s, and seeing as though I’m 23, I’m a perfect candidate for that.

1. Thankfulness for my relationship with God

I really have no idea how I would have gotten through this year without Him. Earlier in the year, I was going through a crazy sudo-relationship that was extremely difficult and extremely “not okay.” Luckily, we both got out without too many battle-wounds and still have an amazing friendship. Although I don’t think it was supposed to happen per-say, I think God transformed the situation into yet another life lesson, and used this man as a reminder of “this is how a man should treat you- with love and respect.” God has been so faithful and has given my family and I the strength to get through things that we never thought we would ever go through. God has give me the strength and is still providing me with the strength to get through each day without my beloved Karina.

2. Thankfulness for the summer of 2011

I can’t count the number of times that I’ve said to my best friend, Al, “I am so glad we had this past summer with Karina.” It was literally the best summer the three of us had together. We partied it up like it was 1999, and shared experiences with each other that we will never be able to experience again. I will forever remember the summer of 2011 as the summer I spent with Karina.

3. Thankfulness for my family and friends

I honestly have no idea what I would do without them. I have been blessed with amazing parents who are not only an incredible example of a happy and healthy marriage, but are also two of my best friends. My younger brother is now eighteen and is turning into a wonderful young man with talent and drive coming out of his eyeballs.

And my friends have been so supportive throughout the past months. Checking in on me, asking how I’m doing. Just REALLY amazing. And I am happy to say that the accident has only made my relationship with Ali run deeper; which is truly wonderful. I am forever in debt to my friends because of the love they have surrounded me with.

Our Canadian Thanksgiving was a few weeks ago but I love that it's coming up soon in the US. I always enjoy reading about what people are thankful for :)
