Another Monday, another week. It's an odd summer, it is. It's my last summer in Boston before I move to Nashville, and it's feeling rather dbittersweet and nerve-racking all at the same time. 

Last week we had a new Sperry Top-Sider retail store location open up, and this is what I wore for the opening event. Just casual, but not too casual, of course.

So this dress… this dress took a couple wears before I actually figured out HOW to style and wear it. The first time I wore it, I got home at the end of my work day and looked at myself in the mirror and said "self, what the (explicative) were you thinking when you woke up and dressed yourself this morning." It was not pretty, and I felt like a clown walking around the office. I've blocked the outfit out of memory it was so bad. 

THIS time, I figured it out. I gotta admit, guys, I figured this dress out. We're besties right now.

Happy Monday errrbody! Hope you all had lovely weekends. I certainly did!! I may be a little sparse around here this week, because I am gigging like woah. The new band I'm in, Us and the Bus, have our first show. And there is church rehearsal and playing and singing all Sunday morning. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, but God will provide, I know.

Style de Haviland: Vintage Skirt

It's Monday fun-day! Uhhhhhhhhhh…… Yeah, Mondays kind of blow sometimes, don't they? I mean Wednesday - Sunday I'm golden and happy as a clam! But Mondays and Tuesdays, no me gusta.

This is an outfit I wore sometime before Christmas. It was pretty intense, because they skirt is made of a very heavy wool and is from the 60's. It's intense. I feel like I'm wearing one of those "Big Fat Gypsy Wedding" wedding gowns because I'm carrying all this damn weight on my hips… Well, that's in exaggeration, but it sounded funny, right?!

After the horrible tragedy in Connecticut, my mom kept saying to me “the only thing that will truly change our world is if we all become less angry.” And I 100% agree with her. Making alterations to the gun-control laws and obtaining more information on mental illness, of course, will help. But I won’t get into that on el bloggo. This is not a public politics forum. But my point is, guys, that I believe that if we don’t seriously change the amount of anger in our world, shit’s going to hit the fan like it has been. How many shootings have we had this year in the states... Four? I mean, this is a serious problem. But what do all these shooters have in common? Anger.  Not necessarily mental illness, although I’m sure that’s a factor with most cases; but the major component with these people is anger. Everyone is so damn angry these days! And why? Why is that? What are we doing to our children that create such angry adults? Why can’t we all just behave and get along? I mean, that’s the problem right? When people misbehave, anger, resentment, and sadness is the result.

I can only be responsible for me. Take the oath with me to live anger-less lives. Bring joy to one another. That is what we were created for – community, fellowship, and love.

Rachel Christine's Closet: Entry #2

It's been kind of a crazy week, guys! Rather than being hermits, Rachel and I are really trying to get out a little more during the week to socialize and see friends. I have a pretty hectic life as it is, but once I add in more friend-time, it gets a little more exhausting. I'm also working on a new music project with some buddies of mine, and last night we had our second practice. A little exciting for sure.  

Here's another installation to my roommate's series. 

I think this is another one of my favorite looks of hers. The dress is SO comfy looking and I always love it when she wears her cat-eyes! Necklace is a J.Crew knock-off that I found on Ebay for like fifteen bucks or something. And the boots are from Aldo about four or five years ago. 

The dress is from Anthropologie and I wore it to my brother's wedding last year. Rach borrowed it for Thanksgiving at her boyfriend's family's house. Necklace is vintage and probably my most treasured accessory that I own. And look at those legs?! Ow OW!

The cardigan I remember Rachel telling me is vintage. She wears it so well...

And chambray... It always looks so good on her, no?

Style de Haviland: My Favorite Dress

When I first saw this vintage dress, I knew I had to have it. The puff sleeves, the frilled cuffs. Oye. 

And these are my new Miz Mooz boots. They're kind of incredible and kind of comfortable. (I say kind of comfortable, because I got them a whole size too small because my size was too big on me. So I'm still breaking them in.)
