Fix You

There are maybe two men that I have every really been in love with. (I think, but I'm not quite sure... Work with me here.) One was a big huge fluke of a thing with a merchant marine, and the other was my high school sweetheart: Tony Papia. Tony and I broke up maybe a bagillion times, but every time we got back together, one of us would play our song- "Fix You," by Coldplay.

Tony and I were avid Coldplay fans. We would hold hands listening to Coldplay. We would stare into each other's eyes listening to coldplay. We would make-out in his Oldsmobile listening to Coldplay. It was truly one of the most romantic times of my life... No joke. This is sad.

This morning I was listening to my newly purchased iPod Touch, and "Fix You" came on. As I walked on Congress Street and over Purchase, memories came dartnig into my head. We'd dated for a year and some change in the beginning, and then had dated (if you can call it that) on and off for the remaining years. Just recently, Tony and I (almost 6 years later) rekindled a friendship that may have never really been "kindled" at all. We spent several hours talking about God's graces and truths. How we are growing and changing. We laughed.

I'll leave you with the lyrics and video:
When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
