Blogging Voice, Anyone?

056

So I’m having a really hard time expressing myself honestly and using my truest voice. I mean, what is this blogging-thing for? Where do I want this to head? Do I really want my current and future readers to know what I believe in and what my opinions are? It’s extremely frustrating to me lately, because I really want to bring up some controversial topics; but how do I do that along with outfit and DIY and I-Have-No-Life posts? (Gah!) I mean, is this just so self-involved? Am I turning into a housewife without even being one?

You guys picking up what I’m dropping?! Does anyone have any words of wisdom, because I’m in DIRE need of some.

I'm sorry.. but i come with no words of wisdom. I am as lost as you are.. I am wife, mother, artist doing the work but lacking the life I imagined an artist should have.. not sure what that is but I didn't imagine it to be this. Though I love my life.. sometimes I imagine something fancier.. I struggle with juggling blogging and all the other thing social media keeps throwing at me..
It may not be a solution but at least you know you're not the only one out there feeling what you feel

to tell you the truth, i've always had a hard time with this too... "be real with your audience, but don't go too far!! write about topics that people like, but make sure you're 'being yourself' while doing it!" a bunch of contradictions.

honestly, i just followed a lot of blogs, and over time, watched how they did it. my favorites have a good mix of quality content (outfits, pretty pictures, recipes, diys, etc.), and personal stories that aren't tmi, but aren't restrained either. it's a hard balance, and it takes time.

it's been my tendency in the past to overshare, so it was hard for me not to at first. i think i'm getting the hang of it. you will too :)

i know where you are coming from. on my blog, i love to share things but i'm very reserved in the personal sense. i don't share too many details or beliefs on my blog. but, like you, i did want to maintain a sense of trueness and honesty so i started doing a week musings/thoughts on.. post where i pick something that is very important to me and expound on it. it gets a lot of feedback! try doing a little at a time.

lots of luck

do it! just go for it. your blog posts don't have to be super thematic from day to day. once you get your groove, you will find the posts that suit you best, be it outfits, diy, or opening up a can of worms or even whoop a$$ - just go for it. we will be here reading. and those who leave, shouldn't have been here anyway.

I totally know what you mean! I think the main thing is, just write for you. Don't write because you want people to read, write what you want to talk about. Do it for you and let your mind wander. :) I'm lovin the blog so far! :)

I think the best posts are ones you WANT to write, no matter what day of the week they come on or what they're about. I like your honesty.
