Friendship & Its Importance

Last Thursday, three close friends of mine and I got together for dinner and dessert. They have been a huge part of my life for over three years now, and until recently, we saw each other almost everyday at work. Now that I'm not working with them anymore, I will admit, of course it's harder to stay in touch. But I've realized that it is important and is definitely a high priority.

The four of us kind of became a musketeers kind of group. We laughed with each other, cried (not very often and it was usually me) together, gossiped together, poked fun of each other. I've realized as I've gotten older that friendships and the relationships that we cultivate with those that surround us are extremely important. God calls us to love one another. And I completely understand why. Humans were built for interaction. We are social beings. We need to be fed by one another.

When I was younger, even two years ago, I didn't place nearly as much importance on friendship as I do now. I was also so focused on finding my future husband and "where the hell is he?" because it ain't here! But it's so not imperative to my life right here and right now. God has a plan for me, and there's no need to worry for such silly things.

Life is short, and we need to support one another through both hard and joyful times. Let's celebrate life together!

I feel ya! I was the exact same way. Friends were my life, but I was convinced that having my husband would be the end-all-everything-I-need situation. It's so important to have positive friends in your life, married or not. I took them for granted growing up!

it's hard staying in touch with friends when things get busy -- but like you said, it's important to try and set at least one day a week (or once every two weeks) aside for a girls night! always rejuvintating!

Glad to see that you had a great day with some close friends! I know how hard it is when you don't see people at work or school every day!
