Style de Haviland: Color Blocking & New Year's Day

New Year's Day always comes and I feel a little overwhelmed. I never prepare myself for it, because I think that everything will just magically fall into it's place on it's own. I wish that were the case, but it's really not...

January first is the day of new beginnings. So I really need to take this and run with it, right?

2012 was a year that my weight really fluctuated. In January I was a size 4 and people were asking me if I was okay, making sure that I was eating enough. I was so stressed and was just starting the grieving process, so I was literally not eating. It was a tough time. But by the end of the year I was back into a groove, but I have never been as heavy as I am now. It's hard for my to see myself this heavy. I know it might not be that big of a deal to other people, but you ladies know how we can be ultra sensitive about our bodies, right?!

So I have a couple new year's resolutions for 2013.

1. Swimming/yoga is going to happen several times a week. I always feel the best when I'm being active and doing lots of swimming and yoga.

2. I'm going to spend more time working on the blog and sharing more thoughts and personal day-to-day experiences.

3. Continue working on finishing my degree. I need to get this done, guys. I really need to.

Hi Emily! Wanted to introduce myself as one of your newest followers - I'm still getting to know your blog a bit , but I'm looking forward to more of your posts in the New Year. :)

I also wanted to say I'm with you on two fronts: getting in shape and working on earning my (master's) degree. I definitely understand the struggle with weight. You're right that it's usually not that big of a deal to others (I think you look fine! See?) but it's important that you feel good in your skin. I hope that you get to where you feel most comfortable in the new year.

And now I'm off to study more for the GRE (Yeah. Still haven't taken that yet). Have a great day!

i love your loafers. and i think its all about how you feel about how you look (far more important than how you actually look - although i think you look great in that outfit - i'm a fan :)

Such a good, honest post, but I love that you're not shying away from posting pics of yourself, or hiding away in the meantime. I think you look great! But I know how it is... I definitely have hopes of losing some weight (2 more pounds of baby weight left, plus I hope to lose a bit more!) this year.
